Today I am sharing a crazy fast, crazy easy crochet project with you. A donut baby teether!
I chose to put a wooden ring on mine, but you can totaly leave it off if you don't have one or preffer not to use one. You can also opt to use cotton yarn, but I chose t-shirt yarn because you can dip it in water and freeze it for extra soothing when Baby is teething.
Let's begin!
What you will need:
- A 2" wooden ring
- A size K crochet hook
- T-shirt yarn
- Sisccors
- A yarn needle
Treating your wooden rings:
Depending on where you sourced your wooden rings, you may want to treat them with some type of oil. There are a few options. Please make sure the oil that you are using will be safe to go into baby's mouth.
For my rings I used a rag to rub in coconut oil. Then let them sit for around 15 minutes.
The pattern:
Ch 16
Loop the chain through your wooden ring making sure that it isn't twisted.
Rnd 1. sl st to 1st ch connecting the ends of the chain together
Rnd 2. Sc 16
Rnd 3. Sc, inc. repeat (25)
*Rnd 4. Sc 2, inc. repeat (32)
Rnd 5. Sc around (25 or 32)
*Rnd 6. Sc 2, dec repeat (24)
Rnd 7. Sc, dec repeat (16)
Rnd 8. SC 16
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
You can sew the donut closed, but I recomend leaving it open if you plan on freezing it so it airs out and doesn't mold on the inside.
* Rounds 4 and 6 are optional. Depending on the size of your wooden ring you may want to skip these rounds so the ring can move freely on your donut. For refference, I skipped rounds 4 and 6 on mine.
And there you go! Please make sure everything is secure before giving this project to Baby.
Happy crafting!
