We have a really close-knit neighborhood. It's incredibly special.

Sometimes someone has a loss that we want to acknowledge. Generally this is a smaller loss. Like when flowers don't quite fit. OK, let's be honest, I'm all about food. So I naturally gravitate that way no matter what the loss.

Often, it's dogs. And trust me, we know all the dogs.

Nora designed this shirt for Julia.

We started keeping one or two small to medium bags of nuts in the freezer that we can grab without much work. (If we don't gift them before the expiration date looks sketchy, we eat them.)

And then we write a little note:

We were nuts about [insert name here], too.

It's not expensive. It's healthier food (which aligns with our values). And it's a little something that brings a smile through the tears.
