Hi friends!

Today I’m quickly sharing a project I made recently and the pattern I used for it!

Let’s dive in!

For Christmas, my mom requested a new makeup bag. I was happy to oblige, however, I needed a little help with the pattern. So I turned to Milk and Honey Quilt Co.’s Basic Boxy Quilted Pouch pattern. I made the largest size, and it turned out quite nicely!

The pattern comes with a super informative video tutorial that I found very helpful. This was my first experience with sewing a lining and french seams using the methods recommended in the video, so I was a little nervous, but it turned out super cool!

On my pouch I added a heart doily with my mom’s name embroidered on it. I love how that special touch turned out!

For the zipper pull I tied some beads and a fabric bow to the existing pull like this idea from Sweet Cinnamon Roses. I have used it on many pouches I’ve made.

The fabric I used was some heavier duty Dala Horse fabric I bought at a store in Sweden. I’ve been waiting for a special thing to use it for and I think this was it! The inner fabric was a recycled yellow gingham.

I hope this provided some inspiration for you!

Happy crafting!
